Reading or using this website means you accept these terms. In short: Loans Halifax is a free loan connection service and not a lender, it offers no advice, it cannot promise an offer, and any loan you sign is a contract between you and a permitted lender under Nova Scotia law.
What this site is
Loans Halifax is a free loan connection service run by an independent publisher; it is not a lender, a broker or an adviser. The pages explain how payday and installment loans work in Halifax and the rest of Nova Scotia and carry one apply button that opens a lender matching service used by lenders with a Payday Lender Permit. The site holds no permit of its own under the Consumer Protection Act because it lends no money and makes no credit decision.
Nothing here is advice
Nothing on this site is financial, legal or credit advice. The pages set out the rules and the arithmetic; they cannot see your pay deposits or your rent and cannot tell you whether to borrow. The disclaimer goes into this further.

No promise of an offer
Pressing the apply button does not mean a lender will make you an offer. Each lender that receives your application decides for itself on your employment income and your chequing account, and some applications end without an offer. The how it works page explains what a decline usually means.
Your agreement is with the lender
Every loan you take is a contract with the lender named on the agreement, not with this site, and that agreement sets the amount, the cost and the repayment date. A payday loan in Nova Scotia sits under Sections 18A to 18U of the Consumer Protection Act and the Payday Lenders Regulations, and the lender must hold a Payday Lender Permit issued through Service Nova Scotia, online lenders included. A permit is not an endorsement by the province or by us.
The Act and the orders of the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board, not these terms, give you a cost of no more than $14 per $100 borrowed and a loan of no more than $1500 repaid in one payment on your next pay date within 62 days. The same rules cap a default penalty at $20 and interest on an overdue balance at 30% a year, give you the right to cancel at no cost by the end of the business day after you receive the money (48 hours for an online loan), allow one loan at a time with the same lender and ban rollovers. An installment loan runs on its own agreement under the federal 35% APR ceiling in section 347 of the Criminal Code.

How the site is paid
When a loan funds for a reader who arrived through this site, the lender pays us a referral fee, and that fee is the site's only income. It passes between the lender and us, adds nothing to what you repay, and we never send you a bill. The referral disclosure sets out the mechanics and the privacy page describes the one code the apply button carries.
Nova Scotia law and age
These terms, and any dispute about this site, are governed by the laws of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada that apply in the province. The pages are written for adults; the age of majority in Nova Scotia is 19.

Copyright and acceptable use
The text on this site belongs to its publisher and the photographs to their photographers under the Pexels licence. You may read the pages, link to them and quote a short passage with credit. You may not copy whole pages, scrape the site or publish its text under another name.
Limits on liability
The site is offered as it is. We accept no liability for a decision you make after reading it, for the acts of any lender or of the matching service, or for either being unreachable when you need them. Where Nova Scotia or federal law does not allow such a limit, the limit does not apply.

Changes to these terms
These terms change when the law or the site changes, and the date at the top moves with each change. Using the site after a change means accepting the new terms. Questions go through the contact page, and the about page says who we are.
