Lenders pay Loans Halifax; you never do. A lender with a Nova Scotia permit pays a referral fee only when a loan funds, the fee never moves your cost, no lender is ranked or named for paying, and we never see the lender's decision. This page sets those mechanics beside the Nova Scotia cost cap and the installment range so you can see what the fee does and does not touch.
When a fee is paid
A lender pays us a referral fee at one moment only: when it funds a loan for a person who reached it through this site. A declined application earns nothing, an application left half finished earns nothing, and a loan cancelled under Nova Scotia's cancellation right, by the end of the next business day or within 48 hours for an online loan, earns nothing either. On the lender's books the fee is a marketing cost, the same line as a poster at the Bridge Terminal.
Your cost does not move
You never pay us, and the fee never changes the rate or the cost of your loan. A payday lender in Nova Scotia prices at or below the cap of $14 per $100 set by the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board under the Consumer Protection Act, so a $300 loan costs $42 and $342 leaves your account on your next pay date. That price is the same if you found the lender here, in a search result or from a coworker on a coffee break in Burnside.
An installment lender quotes an APR in the 18% to 35% range, under the federal ceiling in section 347 of the Criminal Code, on the same basis. We take no share of any payment you make.

No lender is ranked or named for paying
No lender pays for placement, a ranking or a mention on this site, and none is named anywhere on it. The matching service, not this site, decides which lenders see an application, and it matches on province, employment income and chequing account rather than on what a lender pays. We publish no lender reviews, keep no shortlist and point no reader toward one company over another.
We never see the decision
We never see your application, your bank connection, your credit file, the lender's decision or the terms you sign. The only thing that returns to this site is a notice that a loan funded and the fee owed on it, with no name attached. We do not know which lender approved you or what it offered. The how it works page lays out what the matching service asks once you leave this domain.

Permitted lenders only
Every payday lender that funds a loan through the matching service must hold a Payday Lender Permit issued through Service Nova Scotia, online lenders included, and must follow the Act and the Payday Lenders Regulations. The permit is not an endorsement by the province or by us, and the referral fee has no bearing on it. The province's payday loans rights page lists what a permitted lender must do for you.
Not a lender, not a broker
Receiving a referral fee does not make Loans Halifax a lender, a loan broker or an adviser, and the site holds no permit under the Consumer Protection Act because it does not lend and does not arrange loans on anyone's behalf. We publish pages and one apply button; the matching service and the lender do everything after the click. The about page explains who runs the site, the privacy page describes the site code the button carries, and the terms of use set the rules of the relationship.
