Loans Waverley residents arrange online follow Nova Scotia law and land by e-transfer in the old gold rush village along Waverley Road between Lake William and Lake Thomas, midway between Dartmouth and Fall River. This page covers the 118 run to Burnside, older houses on oil and wells, the outage season and the $14 per $100 cap.
A gold rush village between two lakes: where Waverley sits
Waverley is the old gold rush village strung along Waverley Road between Lake William and Lake Thomas, north of Dartmouth and south of Fall River, and an online lender with a Nova Scotia payday permit treats a Waverley Road address no differently from one in Dartmouth.
The housing is a mix the newer suburbs do not have: older village houses that date from the mining days and after, newer lakefront homes along both lakes, and acreages on the back roads, most of them on a well and a septic field. The Loans Halifax homepage compares the two loan types, and the areas we serve hub lists the communities on either side of the village.
Ten minutes to Burnside on the 118: applying from Waverley
Waverley has limited bus service, so most residents drive, the 118 to Burnside in about ten minutes or the 102 to downtown Halifax. The application does not need the car; it is filled in on a phone and funded by Interac e-transfer.
Fill it in at the kitchen table in a village house, on a break in a Burnside warehouse or from a home office above the lake. The lender reads your deposits through a read-only bank connection, emails the agreement and sends the money by e-transfer, the same day the agreement is signed for an online loan under Nova Scotia law. The e-transfer loans Halifax page covers evenings and weekends.

Burnside shifts, airport hours and city deposits: when Waverley gets paid
Waverley pay arrives on the shift schedules of Burnside Industrial Park, on the around the clock roster at the airport up the 102, on the every second week direct deposits of downtown and Dartmouth commuters in government and offices, on trades payrolls and on the invoices of people working from home.
A Nova Scotia payday loan is repaid in one debit on your next pay date, so the loan belongs on the deposit that will be in the account that day. A warehouse worker on a rotating Burnside shift should check whether a swing to nights changes the pay week before setting the date. A tradesperson whose crew stops for January should size the loan to the short cheque, not the summer one.
An oil fill, a well pump and a dark house after a storm: what loans Waverley households cover
Loans Waverley households take most often cover a furnace oil fill for an older village house in January, a well pump that quits, a repair on the car that runs the 118 every morning, or a generator and spoiled groceries after an outage that lasts days.
| Part of the village | The usual bill | What tends to fit |
|---|---|---|
| Older houses along Waverley Road | An oil fill in a cold snap, an oil tank or furnace that fails inspection | Payday for the fill, installment for the tank or furnace |
| Lakefront homes on Lake William and Lake Thomas | A well pump, a water treatment system, a dock after ice out | Payday for one bill, installment for the pump and plumbing |
| Commuters on the 118 and 102 | Brakes, tires and a battery after a winter | Payday under $1500, installment above it |
An oil tank that fails inspection has to be replaced before the next delivery, and a tank plus a furnace in the same month passes the $1500 payday ceiling. The installment loans Halifax page covers $500 to $10000 over 3 to 60 months at 18% to 35% APR, under the federal criminal rate in section 347. The bad credit loans Halifax page covers what a lender reads after a winter of late bills.
If the oil fill is a problem every January, the Halifax loan FAQ explains why a budget plan with the oil company or a monthly savings transfer beats borrowing against the same winter each year.

Nova Scotia rules at a Waverley address
Payday loans in Waverley are governed by the Nova Scotia Consumer Protection Act, Sections 18A to 18U, and the Payday Lenders Regulations, and only a lender holding a Payday Lender Permit through Service Nova Scotia may offer one; the permit is not an endorsement, and the lender sets and discloses every term before you sign.
The cost cap of $14 per $100 is set by the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board and has stood since January 1, 2025, and the Board's order also holds the loan to $1500 and 62 days. A borrower must be 19. The right to cancel runs to the end of the business day after the money arrives, or 48 hours when the loan is arranged online.
One loan at a time with any one lender, no rollovers, no new loan to retire an old one, and no fee for paying early. There is no mandatory extended payment plan in Nova Scotia; if the deposit comes up short, call the lender before the debit and ask for an extension at interest only, and know that a default costs at most $20 and 30% a year on the overdue balance.
The province's payday rights page sets this out and explains how to complain. The how it works page lists the documents.
Loans Halifax is a free loan connection service, not a lender. North on the 118, Fall River shares Lake Thomas with Waverley, and south where the highway meets Burnside, Dartmouth North is the first city neighbourhood the commute reaches.

The power was out for four days after a September storm and we lost a freezer full of food. Is that a payday loan case?
It can be, if the bill is under $1500 and you have a pay deposit coming. Groceries and a rented generator fit a payday loan due on your next pay date; a permanent standby generator wired into an older house is an installment question.
I work rotating shifts in Burnside and my pay week sometimes shifts with the rotation. How do I avoid a bounced debit?
Read the deposit date off your next pay statement and give the lender that date, not the one from last month. A debit that lands two days before the deposit is the usual reason a payment bounces, and in Nova Scotia the penalty is capped at $20 plus interest.
I retired last year but my spouse still commutes to Dartmouth. Can we borrow on one application?
The application is in one name, and the lender reads that person's pay deposits. Your spouse's employment income is what a payday loan is sized to and debited from, so the application should be theirs.
