Loans in Enfield, Nova Scotia

Loans Enfield households arrange online follow Nova Scotia law and arrive by e-transfer in the village on Highway 102 and Highway 2 at the airport, on the Shubenacadie River where Halifax meets Hants County, about thirty minutes from downtown. This page covers the airport roster, the 102 commute, wells and septic on the new streets and the $14 per $100 cap.

The village at the airport gate: where Enfield sits

Enfield is the community on Highway 102 and Highway 2 beside the airport, built along the Shubenacadie River at the line between Halifax and Hants County, and because both sides of that line are Nova Scotia, an online lender holding a Nova Scotia payday permit serves an Enfield address under the same Act as a Halifax one.

The housing is older village homes along Highway 2, new subdivisions filling in behind them and acreages on wells and septic, and the households are families with more than one vehicle. The Loans Halifax homepage explains the two products, and the areas we serve hub lists the communities along the 102.

The 102 in both directions: applying from Enfield

Enfield has no city bus, so the commute is the 102, a few minutes to the airport, about thirty to downtown Halifax, and Burnside or Bedford between. The application stays off the 102; it is filled in on a phone and funded by Interac e-transfer.

Fill it in at the kitchen table before an early airport start, in the staff lot between a cargo shift and the drive home, or from a home office on an acreage. The lender reads your deposits through a read-only bank connection, emails the agreement and sends the money once it is signed, the same day for an online loan under Nova Scotia law. Loans Enfield workers submit after an overnight shift are read when the lender opens. The e-transfer loans Halifax page covers the hours.

Ground crews, cargo, hotels and rentals: when Enfield gets paid

Enfield pay follows the airport, where ground crews, cargo handlers, hotel and car rental staff and the business park beside the runway work at all hours on rosters that change week to week, alongside every second week deposits for Burnside and Bedford commuters, trades and construction payrolls, teacher pay, farm work up Highway 2 and the sawmill shifts in Elmsdale.

A Nova Scotia payday loan is repaid in one debit on your next pay date, and a roster that changes week to week is the trap. A ramp worker whose deposit lands every second Thursday is fine; one whose hours swing between a full and a light fortnight should borrow against the light one. Take the date from the next pay statement, not from memory.

A roster that moved and two vehicles on the 102: what loans Enfield households cover

Loans Enfield households take most often cover a light fortnight after the airport roster drops hours, a repair on one of the two vehicles that run the 102 every day, a well pump or a septic pump out on an acreage, or a furnace oil fill before a cold snap.

HouseholdThe usual billWhat tends to fit
Older village homes on Highway 2An oil fill, a chimney or furnace repair, a sump pump when the river is highPayday for the fill, installment for the furnace
Acreages on wells and septicA well pump, a septic field repair, a generator after an outagePayday for the pump out, installment for the field
Airport and 102 commutersTires, brakes, a windshield from highway gravelPayday under $1500, installment above it

A septic field, a furnace or a transmission on the vehicle that reaches the airport passes the $1500 payday ceiling in one quote. The installment loans Halifax page covers $500 to $10000 over 3 to 60 months at 18% to 35% APR, under section 347 of the Criminal Code. If the light fortnight comes every month, the Halifax loan FAQ explains why a loan each pay period makes the gap worse.

Nova Scotia rules on both sides of the county line

Whichever side of the Halifax and Hants County line an Enfield house stands on, a payday loan there is made under Sections 18A to 18U of the Nova Scotia Consumer Protection Act and the Payday Lenders Regulations by a lender with a Payday Lender Permit from Service Nova Scotia, and the lender sets and discloses the cost, the total and the debit date before you sign.

The cost cap, $14 per $100 since January 1, 2025, comes from the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board, and the Board's limits hold the loan to $1500 and 62 days, repaid in one payment on your next pay date. A borrower must be 19. You may cancel at no cost until the end of the business day after you receive the money, or within 48 hours for an online loan, by written notice and by returning the funds.

A lender may not open a second loan with you while one is outstanding, may not roll one over and may not charge for early repayment, and Nova Scotia has no mandatory extended payment plan, so a short deposit means calling before the due date for an extension at interest only. A default costs at most $20 and 30% a year on the overdue balance.

Complaints go to Service Nova Scotia, whose payday loans and your rights page lists each right, and the how it works page lists the documents.

Loans Halifax is a free loan connection service, not a lender. North on the 102, Elmsdale is the East Hants town with the shopping centre and the sawmill, and south toward the city, Fall River is the lake community at the 118 junction.

Loans Enfield FAQ

My airport roster is posted two weeks at a time and the hours swing. How does a lender read that?

By the deposits, not the roster. The lender looks at the last few pay deposits in your chequing account and sizes the loan to a typical one. If the fortnights swing widely, expect the loan to be sized to the lighter one.

Our house is on the Hants County side of Enfield. Do Halifax rules still apply?

The rules are provincial, not municipal, so yes. The Consumer Protection Act, the $14 per $100 cap, the 48 hour online cancellation right and the one loan at a time rule apply to every Nova Scotia address on either side of the county line.

I finish a cargo shift at four in the morning. Can I apply then and have the money by the time I wake up?

You can apply at any hour, and the form and the bank connection work overnight. The lender reviews it when it opens and, once the agreement is signed, must send the money the same day under Nova Scotia law, so a morning application is usually funded by afternoon.

How Loans Halifax makes money: loanshalifax.ca is a free loan connection service, not a lender. When you apply, we match your application with licensed Canadian lenders and earn a referral fee from the lender if your loan funds. This never changes your rate or costs you anything. We do not make credit decisions and never charge borrowers. The lender sets and discloses the cost before you sign; payday fees are capped by provincial law and installment loans run 18% to 35% APR. All lending is subject to lender approval and provincial rules.
